Celebrating the life of

Patricia Ann Rogers Curry

June 09, 1937 - March 24, 2016

Patricia Ann Rogers Curry

SAVANNAH— Patricia Ann Rogers Curry, 78, finally found her peace on March 24, 2016 at Hospice Savannah surrounded by her loving family and her many friends. She was born on June 9, 1937 in Metter, Georgia to the late Willie Schley Rogers and Alma Everette Rogers.

Her family moved to Savannah when she was just a baby. “Patsy” grew up here and graduated from Commercial High School where she made many cherished friendships that last to this day. She was a past member of the Gordonston Garden Club, worked for many years at Lady Jane, Levy Jewelers, and Oglethorpe Trolley Tours. But she was probably most remembered as the “Talbots Lady” from her almost 20 years at Talbots from which she retired. Pat was a member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, was in the Berean Sunday School class and was in the Good Samaritan Circle. She loved God and her church family, and they in turn loved and cared for her with their steadfast commitment of their time, prayers and visits.

Pat had many amazing qualities, but her gift and lasting legacy was her pure selflessness.

She always put the needs of others before her own. Throughout her life she endured many challenges, having lost her husband at age 51 up until her recent stroke and serious injury she was the ultimate optimist and never gave up hope that things would somehow get better. She was able to withstand many personal struggles and setbacks but you would never hear her complain. Even while enduring the debilitating effects of her severe stroke, her concerns were always for her children, grandchildren and others. Through her unwavering faith in God, she had an amazing strength to endure and survive and we are all better for having known her and witnessed this. She was so strong, but her body gave out long before her spirit did.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband, John E. Curry, sisters Juanita Gilliam, Betty Fowler, and Margaret Martin. Surviving are her daughter, Susan Dailey (Rob), son Greg Curry, grandsons Daniel Sheehan and Connor Dailey, brother Jim Rogers, brother-in-law John Martin and many nieces and nephews. Special recognition and eternal gratitude is given to Earl Hester, who is mom’s special friend and God’s gift to us all for his faithful love and devotion to our mother over the past two years.

Her family would like to extend our thanks to Rita Slatus of Buckingham South and her wonderful caregivers and the caring staff of Hospice Savannah for lovingly caring for her and making a positive contribution to her life.

The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests remembrances to Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, 412 Parkersburg Rd., Savannah, GA 31406.

My deepest sympathy to all of Pat's family. She was the truly the best friend anyone could have and we shared so many good times together and she will always be missed everyday that I live. I am so happy that she is no longer in pain and at peace. She suffered, but never complained, and truly did not deserve to suffer as she did.
